What % of your pattern stash have you sewn?

When I entered my patterns into stash hub I discovered I had made 33% of them…and after months of just sewing whatever tickled my fancy… I was still at 33% sewn!! I was somehow sewing up new patterns at the same rate as I was buying them! So this year I’ve gone on a Quest to increase my % patterns sewn. I’ve gotten up to 55% and that’s pretty cool! I still want to increase that because I actually like all of these patterns and do want to make them, I mean seriously why did I buy these patterns??? I have destashed some that I know I’m not interested in but mostly I do want to sew them. Anybody else have a goal of how many of their patterns they want to have tried?

oh my gosh those nimbers seem
VERY HIGH to me! yes I really do want to sew up the patterns ive collected, almost all of them were free so that makes me feel less urgency tho.

also! i have a tiny percent of the patterns i possess, entered into Stash Hub so I don’t know a percentage but it’s probably about 2% of the patterns i own that i’ve sewn up. your 33% shocked me, shocked i tell you!

It is good to hear other people’s perspective, thank you!! I’m struggling to get past the 55% sewn mark and I think it’s getting me down! Data is great but ignorance is bliss too so maybe I should ban myself from looking at my stats for a while

Yes, good point. I haven’t really separated out the free ones even though I’m sure stash hub knows. It would make a difference I’m sure!

for me, thinking about the patterns i have (and my WIP list and my regular to do list and everything else…) as a menu, works well for me. like the goal is never do do all these patterns, but to have lovely interesting challenging things to choose from every time i get to choose. you know? and yeah…maybe those aren’t the stats to focus on!! how bout “what percentage of my fabrics are purple” instead???

I have all my clothing patterns in. I am currently working on adding my embroidery patterns. I have over 100 of those. Of the clothing patterns I have made 11%. I have all but 8 accessory patterns entered. I have made all of those. Purses, bags luggage etc.

I have made 13%, which I didn’t think was too bad. I do however have 1945 patterns which includes add-ons listed separately as well as over 100 which are instructions for self-drafting using my Sure Fit Designs drafting system.

Yes, I’ve been thinking about how this is very dependent on the number of patterns one has and how long we’ve been collecting them. I have 310 patterns so you’ve sewn more than me! :raising_hands:

I’m at between 38 and 39% consistently- exactly where depends on how many I make vs buy. The more patterns, the harder it is to move the % made🤔

I’ve made 20%. 1 only have 149 patterns listed but that includes e books. I tend to be a bit lazy because I know if I’ve made it before that it will work and I won’t be wasting time. I am not a very fast sewest and don’t have a lot of time. I have actually stopped looking at patterns now, even free ones as they are usually pdf and that means printing either sticking lots of paper together or paying for printing which is not cheap.

I really like repeating patterns too. One thing that bugs me about looking at stats is that it encourages me to toile new patterns and not repeat old ones! That’s not what I want!!! I love repeating ones that I know work plus it makes them cheaper and cheaper every time right?

I have 262 patterns & 7.6% sewn. I do have a lot of books though, I got a bit carried away buying them when I first started sewing & realistically I’ll never use all of them. Horror hit when I saw the total cost though :see_no_evil_monkey::see_no_evil_monkey::see_no_evil_monkey:, must stop buying pdf patterns in the sales!

I make it a point to not look at the $ spent :scream: YIKES!!!

Well I certainly have many more patterns than I’ve actually sewn up. But then there are some patterns I use repeatedly, and others that I only use parts of (a skirt from one dress attached to a bodice from another, for instance). Then there’s the pants pattern that I use as a template for converting long skirts into palazzo pants. . . Makes it hard to get a good count. But as I was entering them I would occasionally say to myself ‘what was I thinking?’ and then remember it was a freebie, or gifted.

After a radical destash last year, I now have 104 patterns, of which I’ve made 44%. I’ve started to look at patterns in a different way and don’t rush to buy a new pattern when I see one online.

I’ve made 34% out of 461 patterns, but I have the problem, that I got lots of kids pattern my kids have already grown out or that are simply not my taste anymore. These are pdf and I couldn’t get myself to delete them…
I sew since I’m a teen and have accumulated so much stuff and try to destash ruthlessly but its still so much…

Oooh I’ve got 111 entered and I’ve made 59% of them! I’ve not logged 95% of the charm patreon ones so that would skew my results back down. I’m trying not to buy patterns I don’t need these days, or wouldn’t make.
