[Input wanted] Bulk Edit Update

One of the more popular requests is a way to bulk update/edit records so that is what I’m going to work on next. I was thinking of creating a spreadsheet-like view but I’d like your input of how you would personally like to be able to “bulk edit”.

What information are you wanting to change? What’s happened to make you want to bulk update/edit?

Please feel free to just brain dump

Location-moving everything tagged say Shelf 2, to a new location, say Shelf 3, rather than individually opening each item and changing the location from shelf 2 to shelf 3.

I’ve got a list! For Patterns: I’d like to be able to bulk edit Gender, Age, Item/Garment Type and Location. I’d settle for removing the defaults from Gender and Age going forward though. I got tired of editing every single pattern as I entered them so all my bag patterns say Female Adult when they should say Neutral N/A.

For Notions: location, size, quantity - all the things I needed but couldn’t specify on Bulk Add

For Fabric: Category, Type, Location and the ability to change it from “Uncut” to “Remnant” since there wasn’t a way to specify that when I bulk entered them all.

For Projects: Deadline

This is one of the updates ive been wanting for a while!!

I like the spreadsheet view idea, although the way I’ve always imagined it was more a bulk edit button. Either on the top near the filters or in the corner “+” menu, you click bulk edit then select all the records you want to update, then that will bring you to a similar page as the typical record editor where you can add tags, change location, length, prewash status, ect.

I things which have made me want it in the past are mostly tags and location. If you think of a new tag you want to add then it would be great to add it to all the relevant records at once, because adding it to everything individually can get overwhelming quick! Location would also be amazing, so you can reorganize without your app becoming a mess lol

This is possible right now by pressing “Manage” next to the relevant field. Although I guess there are occasions where you might end up moving only half of things.

That was another thought I had. The difficulty with this is how would you know what property belonged to which record?

Thanks for the use case with tags and location. Especially with tags, I can see how that might get annoying.

Like many, I’ve refined my use over time so a bulk edit would be lovely! For me, download as a csv, amend, upload would be just fine but something in-app may be easier for more people.

Hello, I love the idea to be able to work with a spreadheet view. I would use it to add new tags that I find appropriate to do a better research. I also have the case that I have a lot of patterns (about 150) from a designer. I won’t use them for a moment but whant to keep it aside to see if I can use it for the instructions or for a pattern detail. I’m going to use the “Destashed” option for this. So, it will be very useful for me to be able to modify the status within a spreadsheet. Or also to specify which one I already made in the past.

I’d like to be able to bulk update tags - since it was released, there have been additional features added eg in Fabric there is Design. I have a lot of fabrics with no design which I’d like to update from my old method of using tags.
Similarly with patterns, when I added them, I didn’t add in the design features - and am now starting to.
It would be great to be able to select records (all or some) and add a tag in one go.

Agree with the bag autogenerating female adult, a lot of my bags are neutral and some kids, so its annoying

@TheWizard I just made this topic (in Feedback & Ideas) IDEA: Pattern Bulk Uploading - ✅🔲 Tick boxes to help re: Wishlist patterns and/or patterns that will later need extra information added to them. I’m not sure if it applies or not to your request for input regarding Bulk Edit Updates but I thought “why not chuck it in the ideas bucket Claire :woman_shrugging:t2::laughing:?

Something that allows me to edit the fields that I wasn’t as judicious in: like tags or colors or designer. It was more for bulk upload where in the beginning when I was going back and adding everything, i wanted all the options but especially the
-pattern name
-designer
-design elements
-knit/woven aspects
-made/unmade

I would love to able to change categories in a list I could check boxes on (I hope that made sense!)
