Vegetable top for my niece, the plant scientist

I was visiting my niece over the winter holidays and she lamented that she couldn’t find clothes with vegetable prints. She works for NASA, designing and testing systems for growing plants in space and is often called on to give talks and presentations. She and I wear the same size top, though she’s eight inches taller (it’s all in her legs)! I found a cute vegetable print fabric online. So I asked for her measurements (the underarm to hip length was critical), and preferences, and then tweaked the Seamwork Hansie top. She wanted something a little dressier, no pocket, and longer. I sewed it up, and posted it, and she was so happy when it arrived she sent me this:

I’ve since discovered loads more vegetable prints on Spoonflower, but I shall let her choose the next fabric. I was just pleased that it fit.

That’s a beautiful gift for your Niece :+1:t3:

I got this fabric for a gathering apron. Might change my plan and make a top. So cute!
