Two requests for minor modifications [Notions/ Fabrics]

Hi,

As I added all my zipper tape to Stash Hub I realized there’s no way to specify that it’s continuous tape and how much of it I have. Can that be added to the zipper notion type? Maybe just change the “quantity” field to allow me to specify either pieces or length?

In fabrics, could you add a way to specify the size of a pre-cut panel? I’m adding it into the description for lack of a better idea.

Thank you!

I have added sub-types for my zips (e.g. concealed, general, jeans). This is useful as sub-types can be filtered.

Hi.

With the zipper tape, is setting the quantity to 1 and the size as the length of the tape not a viable option for you?

I think the description field is the correct place to store the size of the pre-cut panel. Is there an issue for you with having it in the description field?

I was using the size field for the size of the zipper - #3, #5, #7. I suppose I could use a tag for that and use the size as the length, it’s just breaks my brain a little. Or create a sub-notion for each size of zipper could work since there’s only 10 or so different sizes of zipper.

Putting the panel size in the description field works ok, but it makes it impossible to search for “panels of the size I need”. As far as that goes, I don’t understand how panels work in the filters anyway - if I set the length filter to less than 1 yard, I get some of, not all, of my panels showing up in the results because the Magic Input filled in a length of 0.

Yes, using a sub-category would be ideal.

The length filter shouldn’t return any pre-cuts so that’s a bug :bug: which I’ll get fixed. The idea behind pre-cuts is that they’re all standard sizes so just filtering for said pre-cut type should be enough, but I understand that’s not the case with “panels”. I’m not sure on the best solution. Maybe just putting the size in the name, then when filtering for panels it’s obvious from the list view the size.

Am I correct in understanding that there is currently no way to automatically update the notions used as the project is completed, like you can with the fabric/pattern?

If that’s the case then yeah, subcategories and treating the size as the length will work as well as anything else since I’ll still have to manually update the remaining length of zipper.

@Joustinghill currently nope, the Notions used in a completed Project don’t get deducted from the quantity in the Notions records (you can of course manually update the Notion quantity if you wish) … However @TheWizard does have something planned for this in the Roadmap  :arrow_heading_down:

Thanks! I just didn’t scroll back far enough in the roadmap to find it.
I’ll set my ridiculous zipper collection up as sub-types notions since that sounds like it’ll be most forward-compatible with your thinking and offer the least chance of having to edit every single one of the entries in the future.
