I haven’t completed anything since my sewing room make over.
I made this out of a shirt from the charity shop some years ago. It’s the Emily top by Sew over it. I made size 6. I highered the neckline a bit and sewn side seams with a smaller allowance. I also shortened the length by 1.5" as it’s quite long.
It fits perfectly. It’s such a simple looking pattern but I am very happy. Normally with this type of garment I get gaping but not with this. I am also happy because I unintentionally made a matching outfit with my Lidl shorts that I bought last year.
What a beautiful make! And it’s so cool that you were able to make it from recovered fabric from an older garment. I aspire to do that for clothes for the littles in my life as they get older. My curves are such that I tend to need a lot more fabric for clothing for myself.
Yes is more difficult than you think because how the garment is cut. If it’s made out of lots of pieces there’s a lot you can’t use. I cut the front out of the back and sewn the fronts together for the back. Then I was left with yoke collar and sleeves. Children’s clothes would be much easier.
