Stash Horror/Overwhelm

Anybody else finding themselves just a little bit overwhelmed by the size of their fabric stash? I’m about 30% through cataloging a lifetime of really irresponsible fabric purchases and am straight up horrified at how much I had squirreled away here and there. I don’t think I’ve got enough time left on Earth to sew all this up. I’ll probably do some destashing once the cataloging is complete.

Me too and what I liked when I bought it and what I like now is not all the same. At the start of my sewing journey I bought a lot of cheap fabric that I wouldn’t buy today. I would love to not have a stash and buy when I want to make something.

saaaame. when I first started sewing knits I bought a ton of Cotton Lycra prints. now I still love the prints but I prefer athletic knit or bamboo lycra or French Terry over Cotton Lycra

I sorted through my stash at the beginning of the year, as I had a few fabrics I bought ages ago but no longer love. I took them to my sewing group swap. I’m happy they are going to be used.

Well done for pushing through the cataloguing process - it can sure be eye opening! You’ll never use stuff you forgot you had, so it will be well worth it to have visibility on everything.

I’ve just started working on something that will help with the destashing process, so stay tuned…
