Project "To Do" items - all optional?

Really enjoying getting into Stash Hub and finding out what it can do (lots!)

One question - is there any reason why the 'Cut out" and “Sew” items on the To Do list in Projects are both pre-populated and you can’t delete them?

Obviously it works for most dressmaking projects, but not so much for other textile related projects (embroidery, craft kits, pattern creation, knitting etc). Happy to just ignore the irrelevant to-dos but it would be a “nice to have”. I bet a lot of us dabble in a range of textile hobbies and Stash Hub seems like such a great way of keeping track of all my stuff.

@ElizabethW I believe that the reason Doug @TheWizard has programmed the app to pre-populate To-Do list in a Project for Cut out + Sew is because once each are ticked the app will ask you if you want to…

… update Fabric length (as you have :white_check_mark: Cut out)

… & ask you if you want to update Pattern Status to Made (as you have :white_check_mark: Sew as done) - you need to choose “Made” from the drop-down Status menu on the pop-up that appears.

It’s just essentially giving speeded up functionality for the majority of Project types app users are likely to use it for.

Clearly there are times you don’t need Cut out + Sew (as they apply to Fabric cut out, or a Pattern used) - replacing zipper in a jeans :jeans: repair Project for instance. But, the tick boxes are always optional so folks can use them or not as suits their preference .

But, for the most part by having the app ask about cut fabric + sewn patterns it saves you the task of manually needing to go into the individual Fabric or individual Pattern record to update their status to be a lower, fabric length and “Made” for a Pattern.

Thanks @ClaireSews - that makes sense now. It seemed odd that those two specifically were singled out as “compulsory” To-do items, so there must have been a reason for it.

I’ll just use my own work around for any non-standard dressmaking projects, add my own to-do items and tick off Cut out and Sew, just for the satisfaction of ticking off items on a list :grinning_cat_with_smiling_eyes:

:joy::+1:t3:… I have myself been known to write things down on a :memo: notepad merely for the satisfaction of :white_check_mark: them off

You’re not alone Claire!

Thanks for that explanation - now I see why SH stopped asking me about fabric used and patterns made when I completed the project - I had stopped ticking those items off :see_no_evil_monkey:
