I’ve been trying to be a bit more mindful about the patterns that I buy, trying not to buy too much similar stuff if I can help it. Patterns I’ll actually use etc.
Pretty content with my 54% rate, maybe my aim for 2026 is to get it up to 65%?

are you thinking of buying fewer, or making more new to you ones, or what is yr strategy? sorry cat impeding typing ![]()
A mix of it all to be fair.
I really should make more of some I already own.
I should always check my stashhub before buying new patterns, in case I have something similar. Might limit myself to only buying a certain amount of patterns next year maybe?
And try not to buy fabric without a project in mind!
These all sound very doable! Are people still doing the Make 9 thing, where they pick nine things they’re particularly excited to make this year? Is that good? Or are you more of a whim sewist? I like to plan but then I like to frequently and rapidly change the plans
But I don’t have much of a problem with buying patterns – I do love to hoard free patterns and how much of my hard drive is taken up by nearly identical zipper or drawstring bag patterns??
I love this. I got up to 55% sewn before the Black Friday sales. Eeek I went a bit mad and now I’m at 51.7% sewn
. I have a lot more patterns than you but I do sew a lot so usually getting back to 55% sewn wouldn’t be insurmountable…except currently I’m sewing for a trip in an anxiety fueled haze ![]()
and so have been sewing a lot of previously sewn patterns that don’t need adjustments. After these end of year sales it’ll be easier to hunker down and make some progress.
I would LOVE to get to 65% sewn next year like you’re thinking of doing. Good luck to us!![]()
