My neck binding ripped 😭

A tragedy has struck my Roscoe Blouse collection! The ties got caught up in the washing machine and it’s ripped the bias binding around the neckline.

My question: how would you fix this?

I have some scraps of the fabric left so I could make a little more binding and try to attach it on. Interested to know what you think.

I’ll have to make more effort to use garment bags when I wash clothes with ties in future!

Oh no! That’s very frustrating!
If it was me, I’d go for the easiest (sorry, more straightforward) method first and try and find a piece of material that just matches that end bit and replace that. Knowing my luck though, I’d probably end up having to rebind the whole neckline, gathers and all!

Oh no! I think making a little more binding is an excellent idea. The blouse is so lovely it could be worth taking off the torn binding and splicing in another piece of the same fabric!

Thank you @Katie_P and @Anna - I’ll keep you posted on how my mending attempt goes. Really hoping I don’t have to redo any of the neck gathering haha!

If you have more fabric to make binding I would unpick just a bit and do a join and reattache the tie. I am thinking of a join that you would add as you would do if you were binding a quilt block or when making piping. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

Do you mean where you join the binding on at a diagonal to reduce bulk of the seam when it’s folded over?

Yes… That is what I was thinking. I recently hadd to add in to bindong mid project on a cover i was making.

Update: I fixed it! Thanks for your suggestions @Katie_P @Anna @Crushnell - attaching a little more binding on worked a treat. You can barely tell!

Glad to have one of my favourite tops back in rotation!

Amazing recovery! You have to look very hard to see the join. Nicely done.
