Incoming Post: Christmas Make

I made this shirt for my daughter for Christmas. She selected the fabric. She wanted mismatched buttons. This was possibly the biggest challenge with the make. It was hard to find buttons of two different colours that matched each other AND the fabric. These were found on an OS trip, so they travelled a long way to match this shirt. When I purchased them I remember my shopping mate asked me how I could be so sure they would match the fabric and I pulled up the listing on my stash hub app. Magic!

Thanks, I used Simplicity 8889. I made some mods. I cut 2 mirror images of the left hand side because I wanted the buttons exposed. I added about 3 inches of length (the pattern is very cropped). I finished the hem with a row of Coord bias binding (orange) rather than use the patterned placket. My daughter is also wearing a binder which helps with the way the shirt drapes.

So cool!! Yeah, maybe that’s what I’m noticing..the binding. I can’t do it anymore since getting longcovid, breathing is hard enough but it would be nice to have shirts that still drape right – I think the dream is a menswear fit, plus maybe an fba? Did you do anything to the shoulder area or the upper bust area?

‘Mismatched but co-ordinating’ is much more difficult to achieve than anyone imagines - and you absolutely nailed it! So glad that Stash Hub could help you when you were out shopping.

Nope. No changes. Long COVID is the worst. I have it too- but as extreme IBS! Such a drag.
