I have a “problem” 😅

Hi, my name is Cassidy and I have a fabric buying problem :joy: it’s those silly sales and then filling up expensive postage on boxes! It really hits home when right after you click purchase, you to go add it all in stash hub!

Adding for the postage and sales are so dangerous for Stash accumulation! I find that I generally end up saving money by only buying one thing and paying the postage or buying things full price right before I need them (especially patterns).

Are you joining the Sew Sorted course this week? I’ve made a ‘Mindful Shopping Checklist’ to help with decision making about sewing purchases.

We need a “Fabrics Anonymous” group

Welcome to the club! I have been trying really hard not to buy any fabric online because I just end up with acres of the stuff. But that doesn’t mean it still isn’t accumulating. I belong to a buy nothing group (neighbors offering things they’re getting rid of, or asking for things they need). I’ve acquired tablecloths, curtains, bedding, and all sorts of fabulous fabric. I have actually used some of it. I’ve also destashed some of my ‘what was I thinking’ fabric that way.

Same! I sometimes think I enjoy buying fabric more than the actual sewing of it

I tend to over-buy to make postage better value for money, and while I’m full of ideas when actually purchasing fabric, I totally under-estimate the time it actually takes me to use most of it.

@BlossomSandwich will Sew Sorted be available afterwards as replays? I signed up ages ago for it but can’t make either of the timeslots due to my odd working hours

If you’re signed up, you’ll be emailed links to watch the videos at your leisure

I find that making a note of what I planned to use the fabric for before I press ‘buy now’ helps keep me on track. Otherwise when the delivery arrives I can’t remember what I had in mind.

No, I did have time due to work/timing. But I generally do okay…it’s the “fill up the package because I hate paying for shipping” that gets me the most. Or when I have to buy a specific fabric for someone else…then I add something for me.

That would make perfect sense, but I’m very easily influenced (by myself) to buy things I like rather than actually having plans most of the time :grinning:

Top tip, never look at the cost bit of the stats, then you can look at your pretty fabric & ignore the cost :joy:

And I never look at the metrage/yardage stats😂

I get it. I topped 600 Yards of fabric this month. Going to take a year to get it back to a manageable level.
