How do you use Notes?

How are you getting on with the new Notes section in Stash Hub?

The new update includes the ability to add photos to your Notes and link them to Projects.

I’d be really interested to hear what info you like to save in Notes. I’m sure you’ve come up with some great ideas, so let’s inspire each other!

Here’s what I’ve got saved in my notes:

Tag: Machine

  1. Stitches: A photo of a swatch with my machine’s different stitches with notes for the length/width/tension settings for my favourites
  2. Needle currently in machine: I created a checklist of my different needle types than check the one that is currently in use
  3. Machine feet: A link to the Janome website with all the sewing machine feet compatible with my machine and what each one does
  4. Details of my machine’s service history.

Tag: Social

  1. Upcoming dates for events with Surrey Sews (my local group)
  2. Details for the London Sewing Swap (that I’m hosting)

Tag: Technique

  1. Swimwear sewing tips
  2. Sewing terminology definitions
  3. How to French Seam inseam pockets

Tag: Tutorial

  1. Cushion covers tutorial with a link to the YouTube tutorial

I like saving tutorials I find on instagram etc.

I also like saving sew alongs, I know I can save them on the patterns but I like having them in notes too.

I really like the new notes section

I’ve been using it as a record of details of a RTW garment that I want to include in a future make, e.g. key hole back opening, fully lined, inseam pockets. The ability to add a photo is really useful.

I have started a sewing room note. I do several hobbies in there and need to be better organized with all the things that go with them. I get annoyed with having to move things out of the way as I work on projects. I have tags for what’s working, what’s not working, solutions, shopping, type of hobby. I’m sure I’ll add more as I go. When I find an item or idea I will add photos to help me figure out what to do to improve the functionality.

That’s a great idea! I’m sure this will help you develop your ideal sewing space. One interesting craft space idea that I’ve seen recently is using a baking rack to store works in progress: https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dao0nvqFUgF/?igsh=azBxazh5NG5jem9v

Then you can just slide out the tray with the project you want to work on!

I haven’t tried it myself but thought it seemed like a great idea, especially if you’re working on lots of smaller projects.

I’m a list maker so I have lists of prices, international sizes, fabric composition etc. I would really like the ability to create tables - using tabs is hopeless when I try to create nice, uniform columns.

Great idea to store international sizing! I can see how tables could be useful so we’ll look into it - thanks for the suggestion.
