Help Me With My Plan For #SewOrganic26

One of the sewing challenges coming up in February is the #SewOrganic26 challenge from @flowingthreads, encouraging us to sew up organic fabrics during the month of February. I already had this make on my plans list which just happens to use gorgeous organic fabric from Bornella Fabrics. Love it when a challenge coincides with something I was planning to make anyway!

This will be a dress for my mum. I’m planning to use the Sew Over It Betty Dress, as I’ve already fitted it to her. I’m thinking about moving the zip from the centre back to the side, to make it easier to do up. Let me know if you have tips or link to a good tutorial about how to do this.

Since the fabric has a light background, it’s a little sheer so I’m planning to fully line the dress. I haven’t made a fully lined dress before so that will be a new thing to learn too!

Do you have any projects planned for next month yet?

No tutorial link but I’ve done this for years.
You don’t need as long a zip as the pattern specifies as you only really need to ensure it’s long enough to allow the bust to hip area to open up.
Interface the area for the zip
Start the zip about 4- 5cm below the armhole so you have a clean armhole finish (or even insert a sleeve)
If I’m doing an invisible zip, I use a method where the seam is sewn first, then the zip is inserted first which allows any seam and pattern matching to be done first. I learned this before the internet but this is the nearest there is to what I do; slightly more complicated than my method but a good result. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dilNiUyuL28

Hope this helps.
