I’ve just comleted this beauty from a kit from Japancraft
Natsu Bag kit online
This is huge and going to be my beach bag for a big holiday that’s coming up.
The kit comes with a pack of 4" charms and 1m lining and handle fabric. I added wadding and 4 buttons.
The instructionas are good but call for a lot of hand stitching - no way!
My alterations were:
- Sewed the 4 “blocks” together using a faggoting stitch on my sewing machine (not handstitched like the pattern)
- Made handles shorter and used wadding in them
- went over all the seams with faggoting stitch
- sewed handles to inside of bag, flipped the point down an sewed on a button.
- Topstitched all around top edge of bag.
- Made the buttons from pain wooden ones, painted with food dye, washed, and edged with a gold posca marker.
- No.18 is the fagoting stitch - typically used to joing 2 sections of fabric with a small gap - I butted them together.
