Favourite pattern designer & their patterns

What is your favourite designer and some of your favourite patterns from them? I have several that I love, but at this point, it has to be Matchy Matchy Sewing Club. Their Recess Play Pants (I’ve made 3 so far) and their Perfect Puff Sleeve Top (5 so far). I also really like their Peplum Split Tank and have also made 3 of those.

Not a company I have used. I like some patterns from the big 4 as well as Ellie and Mac and Style Arc

I love Style Arc and McCalls. Both brands seem to fit me really well and have great instructions.

If number of patterns and makes from those patterns is any indication i would say it is Love Notions. Tami has a great style eye and the patterns and instructions are always to the point. The team does a great job with video help too. Next up is Ellie and Mac. Similar comment as for Love Notions.

I’ve never heard of Matchy Matchy Annie… will have to go and check them out.

I now use a projector for cutting out my patterns, so I prefer projector files, or at least A0.
I’m also an Ellie & Mac fan. I have 68 of their patterns! :flushed: I started buying anything I liked from the weekly $2 sale years ago, plus there’s a lot of freebies. I’ve made quite a few, but I’m scared to check how many remain unmade. :see_no_evil:
Two of my other faves are both Aussie businesses:
:australia: Waves & Wild, lots of kids and adults patterns. Some great freebies for accessories.
:australia: Pattern Emporium, mostly ladies. Amazing detailed, clear instruction PDFs.

Matchy Matchy Sewing Club are an American company. I buy the PDF patterns and have the A0 files printed at The Foldline Patterns (online shop) here in the UK. I don’t always like the versions of the patterns on their listings, but they look great in a wide variety of fabrics and prints. I didn’t like the Recess Play Pants pattern when I first saw it, but I love my own versions. Here are three of them.

I’m a Cashmerette cheerleader, all the way! I’m a G/H cup with over 6" difference between high bust and full bust, so the Cashmerette patterns give me the best starting point for garments that fit my luscious curves.

My second choice is definitely Love Notions.

And I apparently mostly collect patterns from Gertie’s Charm Patterns. I adore the designs, but rarely have cause to make them, so…

I really like Helen’s Closet patterns. She has such good instructions

I don’t really have a favorite designer, all the patterns I’ve tried from big companies tend to be pretty frustrating, but I use them anyway. Some indi designer I’ve used patterns from before are

SewingAmore, I was one of the testers for her Belle dress, which is an amazing pattern! She also has a bunch of other patterns I want to try, but I haven’t been able to buy yet.

I also love Lunneth’s Collette corset pattern, I’ve made so many!

GenuinelyEm, Sew Into That, and Cinnamon Daisy Studio are some designers that I follow, but who’s patterns I haven’t been able to try yet.

Looking at my stats, my top is Mood Fabrics, but I don’t really make their things - just grab the freebies when they look good. Sonia Estep Designs is also in my top list, but that’s because I got all of their patterns when I joined their Patreon for a month sometime last year.

So, in reality:

  • Ellie and Mac (I have made so many of their Going Home and Fall in Love tops)
  • George and Ginger
  • Petite Stitchery

At the moment, my favourite designer has been Pattern Emporium.

I sew just for myself, not any kids.

I’m definitely an indie patterns fan. I’d have to say Love Notions, Itch to Stitch, Pattern Emporium, and of course the first indie company I discovered when I re-started sewing after a 20-year break, Cashmerette. There are a few more, but these are top of the league for me.

I love Itch to Stitch, her patterns just fit me perfectly with no alterations

Oooh. I’m still inputting patterns I’m on approx 40 of over 100…

Petite Stitchery is one of my most favored! Particularly for Jersey!

I’m currently loving the deer and Doe Sirocco, although I don’t have any other patterns from them.

I’m trying to be a more conscious buyer this year, so I’m aiming for more sustainable/good ethos companies.

I have a lot of Ellie and Mac, but I don’t really make them anymore.

Waves and wild are brilliant, simple patterns.

I love Jalie patterns.

Here are some of my favorites:

They fit me without any need for adjustment.

Otherwise, I’ve sewn with big 5 patterns (including Burda).

I’m a Gertie (Charm & Patreon) and Tuppence Ha’penny fan. Favorite pattern from Gertie is without a doubt the Society Dress. Tuppence fave may be the Daytripper dress, but I haven’t actually managed to finish many of hers yet, so that might change later on.

I also use a lot of vintage originals (or unaltered repros) from the 1930’s through 1950’s.

I have a few patterns from the ‘the big 5’, but I put off trying any of them because before I even start, the size charts on the back of the packet confuse me. :flushed: Then there is the horrible tissue paper of the pattern that I hate. It’s so difficult to handle and to keep in place (I had it once in an Indie pattern).

I haven’t tried any of those types of patterns before because I’d be so worried about damaging the pattern itself. Some of them are doing PDF patterns now, but from what I gather they tend not to have layers, which is a dealbreaker for me. If I see a pattern from them that I like the looks of, I try to find something similar from one of the indie designers I like.

I LOVE Greenstyle for athleticwear, top pattern companies for everyday wear would be: Sew over it, 5 out of 4, Sinclair and petite stitchery
