Fabric Type vs Fabric Composition

Hello.

I have a question regarding fabric type and fabric composition - I don’t know what the difference is between these two?

To me they are the one and the same. What is the intent behind them.

I have some cotton broderie Anglaise, would you put broderie Anglaise in the type and the cotton in the composition?

Fabric Type = yes Broderie Anglaise, Chambray, Denim, Tweed, Jersey, Ponte Roma, Voile, Damask, etc. etc. (think the weave or structure of the fabric as it is manufactured)

Fabric Composition = Cotton, 95% Polyester + 5% Elastane, Linen, 100% Cashmere (think fibre content)

Fabric Category (the fixed, un-customisable drop down menu list) = Knit, Woven, Stretch Woven, Other

I hope that helps

That’s interesting as the example on the app for type is cotton which is why I was getting confused.

Might have to revisit this bit then.

I also wouldn’t have a clue as to what the composition is of some of my stuff!

All the fields in Stash Hub are optional so you can leave the composition blank if you don’t know it for some fabrics. ‘Fabric Type’ is what shows on the cards when you’re browsing your stash.

I often leave the composition empty (I have bought a lot of fabrics from Walthamstow Market & the nearby shops - stuff is often a mystery buy there :joy:).

As an example, you could put under ‘Fabric Type’ Bamboo Jersey - then you can additionally Filter by Type to see all of those together

Thanks Claire, That’s what I have been doing so far.
