Denim patchwork tutorial recommendations

Hello, I’d love to create some really funky patchwork fabric from my denim scraps. Not uniform squares. Any recommendations for great tutorials for this please?

My go to is Pinterest for inspiration and YouTube for techniques. Crumb or scrap patchwork or quilting are good search terms to start with, although I’ve just put denim patchwork into the search on YouTube and I’m going to watch a few of those now because they look stunning. Because of the bulk, you don’t want pieces that are too small.

Thank you, really appreciate you replying. I don’t use Pinterest as I didn’t see how useful it could be and have been searching You Tube. I’m thinking of decent sized pieces, maybe with some fray (is that old fashioned???). Definitely not little squares. I was quite inspired by Nigel on Next in Fashion

I made a scrap denim jacket from old jeans and used each pattern piece on a different part of the deconstructed jeans. I made a scrap jumper (not denim) by cutting blocks out and making a new piece of fabric large enough for the pattern piece before I cut the piece out. I spotted this but I haven’t used the tutorials to see if it’s a good technique or not Crazy patchwork - Make it in denim - Easy sewing for beginners

Oh that’s fab, thanks!

Would love to see a picture of your work!

Great to hear about the jacket, I’ve been planning something similar! Did it turn out the way you wanted? Any problems to avoid? Would also love to see a pic!

This is the Itch to Stitch Atenas jacket. A lot of the denim came from stretch jeans that I wish I’d interfaced to stop stretching as much. I just dismantled jeans and started with the biggest parts for the biggest pattern pieces.

That looks great - thanks so much
