Cm to inch conversion and vice versa

Hello, I’ve just found that when you have entered your measurements in cm if you click on inch they automatically are converted. And vice-versa. Such a useful function when you’re working with both systems and when your measurements regularly change. Thank you !

That’s a good tool as some patterns are only in metric. I hate that as I always measure myself in inches.

yes exactly @Jayne i was just thinking that too! i’m working with my first proper garment pattern, and it’s all in metric and my brain is in imperial (i believe in metric, theoretically, but it’s still a big adjustment!) so thanks @Ariane_et_le_fil for pointing this out!! and thanks to the team for making this wizardry!

With pleasure ! I’m on the over side. As European, it’s hard to find rules and measurement tapes in inches. So, I’ll take my measurements in cm and have to convert it in inches when there is no metric measurement table. I appreciate when both measurements tables (metric and imperial) are given with the patterns.

That must be annoying. At least all our tape measures have both measurements on. I am okay with metric for most things and we can’t by fabric by the yard but for some reason my brain hasn’t learnt my measurements in metric so when looking at a pattern J have to read the European side for how much fabric is needed and the American side for the sizing. In the UK some things are kn metric and others in imperial.

ooooh what if we have a pipeline (the good kind!!!) of getting imperial (or imperial/metric) measuring tapes between countries, so that everyone can measure however they want?? like if folks are traveling, bring some little measuring tapes with them to give or trade.
