One week ago, we had a huge storm. 2β diameter hail, 3β of rain, high winds, and 38 hours without power. There were a dozen tornadoes in the state, one of which tore through town a few miles from us, but thankfully missed our neighborhood.
All that said, we were safe and came out with relatively minor damage compared to others in our area.
The most immediate thing is that we had a leak in our basement RIGHT UNDERNEATH MY STASH!!!
Muddy water started flowing alarmingly from underneath the Kallax shelving I keep my fabric in and headed for my pattern drawers and then to the wooden loom. ![]()

My husband and I jumped into action, sopping up the water to keep it from damaging things and frantically moving the fabric to safety.
Thankfully, we saved it ALL!!! The water was only a few gallons and stayed low so it didnβt even touch my fabric or any other important stuff.
Now, the silver lining.
With all of my fabric temporarily displaced to properly clean the floor and shelving (shout out to Kallax for being sealed on all sides so no exposed particle board to absorb water), I am able to finally finish cataloging my fabric, a project I gave up on halfway years ago as I was too busy.
As a result, I have fallen in love with my stash all over again as I rediscovered amazing fabrics I hadnβt seen in years!
