I started sewing in around March 2024 (after gifting myself an overlocker for my birthday
) and managed to complete 40 projects that year, but I’ve more than doubled that in 2025 with lots of tester garments and quick sews, along with a few longer abandoned or unfinished projects.

All of my 2025 makes (some much more successful than others!):
I’ve bought (too) many fabrics in 2025, and my favourite shop (which isn’t necessarily my favourite, I’ve just bought the most from them as sell really cheap fabric (I’ve had 3m for free, 3m for £0.03, and many cuts of 3m for £3) which is great for a relative beginner - but the delivery times are usually pretty slow, and many of the fabrics that I have paid more for have been disappointing). But now I know that, I can work with it and just use them for cheap stuff and buy nicer elsewhere.
My goals for 2026 are:
- To get more efficient at digital alterations (I love Affinity for pattern adjustments (projector user) and often spend much longer faffing with patterns than actually sewing).
- To try and complete something in/for the correct season.
- To stop buying patterns unless they offer me something really different to those I already own.
- To buy and use fabric in only 1 colourway first (I need to be firm with myself on this one - I really don’t need all of the colours, all of the time).
