I’ve recently returned to my sewist roots after a decade and a half “sabbatical”. My experience has gone in a lot of directions over the years.
In the 80s I made American Girl doll dresses for a local children’s clothes designer/shop owner. I was pretty much teaching myself to sew as I went.
After taking a lot of classes and dressing my own kids, it sort of evolved into a custom smocked, appliquéd, embroidered and heirloom garment business.
While sewing for several Interior Designer’s kids, I was lured into custom window treatments and soft furnishings, eventually running the workroom of a small high end design shop.
On my 50th birthday, I returned to college. This led to me spending almost a decade and a half teaching and tutoring Web and Graphic Design.
I retired not long ago. Tons of sewing related items had been packed away, their bins gathering dust until just last month. Several months ago I had bought an embroidery machine and decided it was time to jump back in but I did not know where to start. Stash Hub is playing a huge role in getting me going!
