Hi everyone. Hope you are doing well. I’ve a quick question. When listing something for destash (eg on destasher) is it ok to use the original listing photo or should you take your own? Thanks.
I only destash when people are asking if someone has a certain fabric. So I didn’t need to concern myself with whether or not to use the photo from the shop. And, admittedly, this is something I wouldn’t have even thought about!
Thanks. I subsequently contacted the person who runs destasher and they said best to take your own for copyright reasons but I struggle to show the colours properly. I wonder if you acknowledged the original? I might message again to ask.
For me, I think the most important thing is to display an accurate likeness of the fabric.
I think with sites like Vinted they don’t like you to use professional photos because it makes it easier for people to run scams selling stuff they don’t actually have.
So perhaps a good middle ground could be to use the shop photos and put a quick snap of your own at the end, so you can show you have it without having to worry too much about getting the perfect photo. And if you can include the shop name in the description for a photo acknowledgement that might also help people find your listing if they’re searching the destash platforms for particular shops.
